I.Water Environment

1.Quantitative Assessment of Water Quality Regarding Urban Waterways in Three-Year Environmental Action Plan

The annual average of water quality indicator for 12 waterways in urban area ranged from 4.910 to 8.143, the average value of which was 6.521. While the annual average of water quality indicator for waterways in suburban area ranged from 2.000 to 8.344, the average value of which was 6.021.

Compared with 2004, there’s a great improvement in key urban waterways, the average of water quality indicator of which decreased from 7.632 to 6.521 and so was the same indicator in suburban areas, from 6.232 to 6.021.

2.Tributaries of HuangpuRiver

The overall water quality in tributaries of HuangpuRiver in 2005 was similar with that in 2004. Water quality in the three sections of HuangpuRiver, Dian Feng, Ling Jiang and YangpuBridge was improved.

The recent five-year(2001-2005) monitoring data of water quality showed that except water quality at the two sessions of Dianfeng and Songpu Bridge, water quality at the other four sessions met the functional requirement of its corresponding area respectively. In particular, water quality at YangpuBridge and Wusongkou was improved dramatically.

3.Suzhou Creek

Compared with 2004, the overall water quality in Suzhou Creek has been improved.

The recent five-year(2001-2005) monitoring data showed that except water quality at the session of Baihe, water quality at the other five sessions met the functional requirement of its corresponding area respectively. The overall deterioration tendency of water quality has been held back in 2005.

4.Estuary of Yangtze River

Compared with 2004, water quality at the two sessions of Wusongkou and Zhuyuan were basically maintained. Water quality at the three sessions of Xuliujin, Liuhe and BailongPort were improved, while quality at the session of Chaoyang Farm declined. On the whole, water quality at the estuary of Yangtze River was better.

The recent five-year monitoring data showed that the six sessions of the estuary of Yangtze River were in compliance with the functional requirement of its corresponding area, especially the session of BailongPort.
